head canon: Whenever Kaneki would try and read his depressing books Hide would always make faces at him over the cover so whenever he got teary eyes he’d look up and there Hide was, making a stupid face. It always cracked Kaneki up, so now he’d be able to go back to reading with out teary eyes and a blurred vision. (+)

Years later when there is no longer Kaneki Ken but Haise Sasaki, he’d be at a local coffee shops reading and he hits a really sensitive part that he has to stop and compose himself, but when he looks up he sees the most retarded face he’s ever seen being made by a blonde boy looking his way. For some reason, Haise starts crying harder.
